Karla Murdock, Ph.D. is a Professor of Psychology trained in clinical psychology. Her research broadly focuses on associations between stressors and health across development. Her Technology and Health Lab investigates cellphone use, sleep, and indicators of health and well-being.

Ellie Bold ’15 is a third-year doctoral student in Child, Family, and School Psychology at the University of Denver. Her work focuses on fostering the inclusion of all children in the general education setting through effective behavioral management and multidisciplinary collaboration. Prior to starting graduate school, Ellie worked as a data technician at the Duke University Center for Child and Family Policy.

Katie Balistreri ’16 is a third-year doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her work focuses on the emotional well-being of children with medical conditions as well as their families. Prior to beginning at UWM, Katie worked as a research assistant at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH.

Gretchen received her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Texas at Dallas last year and this is her first year out in the field. She is currently an SLP in the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) program at a nonprofit called Easter Seals of Greater Houston. This entails providing language and feeding therapy for infants between birth to three years old in the home setting (however, currently she is providing teletherapy and it’s going better than expected!). She provides parent coaching for families that have a baby/toddler with a developmental delay or a delay due to a qualifying diagnosis such as CP or ASD. She loves her kids and the families that she serves and is very much enjoying her first job as a therapist.

Courtney Berry ’21 is a senior Psychology and Strategic Communications double major. She is a member of the varsity volleyball team. When she is not in the classroom or on the court, she enjoys giving campus tours, hanging out with friends, and being outside.

Sarah Concepcion is a senior Cognitive and Behavioral Science major and Poverty and Human Capability Studies minor from Richmond, Virginia. This is her 3rd year in the Technology & Health Lab. She hopes to pursue higher education in the field of Clinical Psychology following her time here at Washington and Lee.

Alyssa Bower ’19 is currently working in Washington, D.C. as a medical assistant at an OB/GYN practice. She works one-on-one with a physician where she triages patients and helps with procedures, exams, and routine appointments. In the spring, she will be returning to school to pursue a master’s degree in physician assistant studies.
