
Samantha Weed ’22 is a senior CBSC major from Connecticut. She joined the Cognition in Context lab in the winter of her sophomore year. On campus, she sings in University Singers and General Admission and works as a student ambassador. She is considering many post-graduation opportunities, and aims to work as a school counselor and eventually start her own business. Outside of campus she loves cooking and hiking.

Ida Whitney ‘22 is a senior at Washington and Lee University. She will be completing a B.A. in Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences along with a Studio Art minor. Coming from Door County Wisconsin, Ida plans to travel by exploring outdoor job opportunities post-graduation.

Savannah Johnson ‘22 is a senior CBSC major from Huntsville, AL, who has minors in Data Science and Poverty and Human Capability Studies. On campus she plays for the Women’s Golf Team, works for the CBSC department as a student assistant, and is an employee of the Traveller Safe Ride Program at W&L. Upon graduation, she will be living in Austin, TX, working as a Product Analyst for a software company.

After graduating with a degree in CBSC, Amanda secured a position at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation as an environmental educator. While her sights are still set on graduate school, particularly research in environmental psychology, this opportunity has allowed her to expand on her environmentally-related interests and spend all of her time outdoors teaching students about the Bay while paddling through its many rivers and streams

Sarah Concepcion graduated from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive and Behavioral Science in 2021. Following graduation, she began a fellowship in Chattanooga, Tennessee that explores the intersection of work and faith. As a part of the program, she is working as a Research and Policy Analyst at the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga.

Amanda Dorsey ’21 is currently attending Emory University to earn her MPH in Global Epidemiology. Here, she serves as a research assistant for Emory’s Center for Spina Bifida Prevention.

Lorena Terroba Urruchua '21 graduated with a double major in CBSC and Romance Languages and a minor in Poverty and Human Capability Studies. Lorena is currently spending a year in Spain through a Fulbright fellowship as an English Teaching Assistant. She is teaching 7th-12th graders at a school in a small northern city called Ourense. Aside from teaching, she is working on a community based project with a local agency for people with disabilities.

Genna Feirson ’20 graduated with a CBSC major and a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a Co-Founder of DIVERGE magazine, which explores and documents the multifaceted identities and diverse experiences of W&L community members.

Charlie Kittredge ’20 works in Washington, D.C. as an associate medical sales representative for Breg, Inc. He creates long-lasting relationships with doctors selling braces to them and their patients.

Alyssa Bower ’19 works as a medical assistant at Bloom OB/GYN in Washington, D.C. She works one-on-one with a physician where she triages patients and helps with procedures, exams, and routine appointments. In the spring, she will be returning to school to pursue a master’s degree in physician assistant studies.

Katherine Richard ’19 is currently a project coordinator at the University of Arizona, working on the Connected Lives: Overcoming the Self through Empathy (CLOSE) Study. This is a collaboration project with the Neuroscience of Emotion and Thought Lab and the Laboratory for Social Connectedness and Health. In the next few years, I hope to start a Ph.D. program in Cognitive Psychology.

Pippi Balistreri '18 is the Lead Content Director at goHere®, a rapidly growing industry 4.0 consulting and development firm. She is also the Director of Public relations at House of Providence, a nonprofit that's transforming outcomes for children placed in foster care institutions with an innovative, evidence-based, and exceptionally successful new model for institutional foster care.

Elissavet Chartampila ‘18 is currently pursuing her PhD in Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Her work focuses on the mechanisms of neuropsychiatric disorders and the development of new treatments. Prior to graduate school Liza worked as a research assistant at NYU.

Ravenel Harrigan completed the accelerated BSN program at Medical University of South Carolina in December 2020 and worked at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital on the Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant floor. In December 2021 she will assume a new position in the Labor and Delivery Department of Sibley Memorial Johns Hopkins Hospital in Washington, DC.

Yolanda Yang ’18 is pursuing her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at UNC – Chapel Hill. She is currently studying the role of emotion regulation in behavior disorders and behavioral parent training and hopes to harness technology to enhance the accessibility of services for children and parents. Prior to her doctoral program, Yolanda received an M.A. in Clinical Psychology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 2021, where she worked on developing an emotion-regulation focused parenting program.

Esther (Hyunah) Choi ’18 is a senior project manager at Edelman, a global marketing and advertising firm located in New York City. Her day to day job includes working with data visualization, coordinating with designers, and communicating with multiple teams to ensure deadlines are met.

Katie Balistreri ’16 is a third-year student in the clinical psychology Ph.D. program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her work focuses on the emotional well-being of children with medical conditions as well as their families. Prior to graduate school Katie worked as a research assistant at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH.

Crystal Santos ’16 earned a second Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at the University of Texas Arlington. She is currently working as a Level III NICU nurse where she provides specialized care to premature infants and other critically ill newborns. In the future she plans to pursue a Nurse Practitioner degree in either Neonatal Health or Midwifery.

Gretchen Sengelmann ’16 completed a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Texas at Dallas. As a SLP therapist in the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) program at Easter Seals of Greater Houston, she provides language and feeding therapy for infants between birth to three years old in the home setting.

Caroline Crichlow-Ball ’16 is a second-year student in the clinical psychology Ph.D. program at the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education and Human Development. Caroline studies school threat assessment and student threat reporting under the mentorship of Dewey Cornell, PhD. Prior to graduate school Caroline worked as a research assistant at UT Southwestern’s Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care.

Ellie Bold ’15 is a third-year doctoral student in Child, Family, and School Psychology at the University of Denver. Her work focuses on fostering the inclusion of all children in the general education setting. Prior to graduate school she Ellie worked as a data technician at the Duke University Center for Child and Family Policy.

Mikael (Mickey) Horissian ‘15 is currently a dermatology resident at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. He completed his intern year in pediatrics at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA
